How Russia’s troll army spread on YouTube and Instagram
- jacquesm 4y agoThe cold war never really ended. This is one of those things that seems to escape the general consciousness, we all hoped that Russia would get the message and start to play nice. But for the last two decades it has been pretty clear that to assume the bear was tamed would be a huge mistake. Unfortunately especially Germany still doesn't seem to get the message, even though you'd think that by now it is abundantly clear that this was in error.
- goatsneez 4y agoThe role of propaganda and psy-ops on the populations is well known to be the playing field of modern states*. This study offers clues and methods of operations of Russia. Nothing would be more interesting in today's global situation of literally largest geo-political shifts not seen for three generation how other state operate to dominate the perception space of populations. (Of cause, UA should be next, except there is no goal let alone a concept of objectivity on the part of any 'state' media. In any case, such studies have to be done UK and US and EU' states itself, also in relations to other topic such as COVID, climate-change, etc). * Disinformation is routinely and with increasing complexity injected into the public space by state-actors to trace-out routes and hubs of "spreading", civic response, retention and acceptance and for purposes designing of counter-propaganda. This tactic predates digital storage media. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_warfare#United_States https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_warfare#United_S...]
