- ghaff 4y agoOr you get a loan from the local S&L because you go to church with the loan officer or are otherwise an obviously upstanding local citizen. Before more industrialized lending, loaning money mostly came down to having relationships with the right people.
- gruez 4y agoThat itself has issues. If you're in a minority/ostracized group inequality is made worse by the fact you can't secure a loan for a house/car. Also people who are generally more outgoing/social (ie. more likely to be chummy with the local loan officer) get better loans, which is also unfair.
