I'd say it's pretty extreme grey area. If third party countries are allowed to make deals about other countries sovereignty then I don't know what sovereignty means. > Invading East Turkistan (Xinjiang) and occupying it - is that black or white? Xinjiang is actually more black and white, but I'm pretty sure not the way you're assuming. It's kind of been part of china since the mongols (Yuan) and the only time it really got anything like being an independent state was when Japan invaded... Agree both of these are bad. But in the context of the geopolitics between China and the US, it's hard for China to stomach the strong alliances the US has forged with Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Phillipines. It is clearly a containment strategy, and Taiwan with it's history as being an unfinished bastion of the civil war. While I agree I can certainly think Taiwan should be an independent country. I can also understand why it bothers Mainland China so much.

We shouldn't meddle in their affairs. Also, let's not act like the US hasn't done far worse things to other people and countries.

  Perhaps the CCP should stop meddling in Taiwan's affairs. Taiwan is asking for assistance to help resist the bullying. How is responding to requests for assistance 'meddling'? Mao starved tens of millions of people to death. Xi has turned Tibet and Xingiang into concentration camps. What on earth are you talking about with "far worse"? CCP leadership has publicly stated how they will 'reeducate' Taiwan.
