Can We Throw Satellites to Space? – SpinLaunch
- fancyfredbot 4y agoReally interesting documentary, and a cool technology. One thing buried away at the end really surprised me, which is that even if they get it working it'll be more expensive per kg than a falcon 9 heavy. Wow.
- JoeAltmaier 4y agoPerhaps it'll have a niche - launch any time you want?
- fancyfredbot 4y agoYes that's exactly what they say in the video. Apparently the cost of smaller launch vehicles with flexible launch schedules is much higher. It's still amazing how efficient the falcon 9 is though!
- DarmokJalad1701 4y agoI thought that they were aiming for $2500/kg and the Falcon 9 example in the video was $4100/kg.
- generuso 4y agoThis was much more informative than companies' own videos. They should have invited somebody like that to make a video about them long time ago, before the narrative got hijacked by the "skeptics" with a very vague understanding of how things work.
