It's also kinda wild how long it takes for a C++ standard to land in a manylinux container. I got lucky that the manylinux2014 container contains a C++17-compatible GCC 9.3. The newer manylinux_2_24 container goes a step back and only contains GCC 6.3 because the RHEL dev toolset got lost somehow. C++17 support came with GCC7. The newest manylinux_2_28 contains GCC 10 but I fear it might create wheels incompatible with many user's systems.
