- ggm 4y agoUnvoiced thoughts can be amazingly powerful. Hold on to the positives in a situation, eschew the negative. Specific things given carry a numinous quality. Really? It was the gift of the ideas not the edition but saying that I know it doesn't ring true. 26 years later I hold onto small trivial gifts from my mother, and 28 years on the same from my father, nothing will replace them in my life nor will these tokens bring them back. It took a flood to teach me the ephemerality of these things as I watched photos drift away in muddy water, dissolving into smears. I rescued four, the scans are with me still. They didn't gift the tchotke to be memento mori, that's something we lay on top.
