I want fucking criminal charges, where the people who run these schools, and the people who run these companies, go to jail. No, I don’t care about the “collateral damage” to idiots in power, i.e. principals who ordered/asked for this, or school boards who required it. Part of being in power is making decisions and then dealing with the consequences of those decisions. If you’re too fucking stupid to realize that installing persistent monitoring on a computer (which for the rest of this paragraph I’ll extremely begrudgingly grant might be “school property” and not discuss all the ways that a public institution doing this is Bad), WHICH FUCKING LIFTS DATA FROM EXTERNAL DEVICES (used by minors) without permission is a Really Bad Idea and might even result in you having illicit images, well… thems the consequences. One hopes that one (or ten, or twenty) quality examples in the prison system should fix the problem.
