Most people lack the philosophical chops to opine on this subject. Not that that stops them from doing so.
- mdp2021 4y agoFirst of all, some do not lack them. Secondly, this would be more of a technical problem, not really "philosophical". Thirdly, there exist disciplines which suffer from a tendency towards sophism - "persuasion", not "heuristic" -, as well noted in their history. Edit: Fourth, sophism gives an illusion of "understanding" that has real world practice as a cruel challenger and cure.
