Absurd. It doesn't matter how it happens as long as "the right thing happens". It's a coup if Trump did this, to rewrite the constitution, but if "the right people" do it, then its a radical proposition forced upon us by morality and principles of equality. Why not use the process that is meant to solve these problems, a constitutional convention. "Because it'll never get done that way." Ok so if you cant get what you want just get it anyway you can. I'm sure everyone will respect the new fake laws that come out of the 127 DC states.
