> * dickpanel n. : a modal panel or popover a website or app presents, deliberately obscuring its own content, to frustrate the user with a marketing message; e.g. asking the user to install the website’s app, subscribe to a newsletter, or disable privacy controls and accept tracking cookies. See dickbar. I call those panels "pies" since getting one feels like having a pie thrown in your face. It is intended to be more of a SFW term, like when talking to front end devs: could the site please not throw so many pies? I can usually block them with adblock but doing so can be complicated, since you also have to block the CSS change that grays out the main text.
