My theory for the ”why people enjoy this” is: for part A of the population, the situation activates the empathy centers of the brain, and you share the pain. For part B, the bullying centers activate, and you find amusement in the torment of the poor fool. We all have both centers, only luck will tell which one is wired up to ”cringe” stimuli.
