Ask HN: Why are phones from the future in movies transparent?
- inphovore 4y agoNeat isn’t it? And how about those gesture controls? Flicking the content to other devices? Cool huh? That’s why! Movies are imagination and what better to imagine than how our intimate devices might look and behave without the pittance of modernity?
- theandrewbailey 4y agoDisplays in general from the future are transparent. I'd think they'd be terrible.
- 5bolts 4y agobecause it looks cool on film, and changes the angle that the shot can be done at while the phone still provides visual clues.
- greenbit 4y agoI'd imagine to make them seem indistinguishable from magic?
