The world population was 500 million in 1600. Humanity didn’t go extinct.
The whole hysteria over impending extinction due to ‘under population’ is cringey.
And slight PTSD sets in for those who have emigrated from overpopulated countries that struggled from resource crunch that crippled the struggling population due to the thin spread.
I unfollowed Elon Musk on Twitter. And Mike Solana, blocked me after I ‘corrected’ some of his gross childish tweets in the comments.
It is difficult not to factor in the race and colour of the alarmists. I hate bringing up ‘racism!!’ for every badly communicated frog-in-the-well pov, but I think in this case, everything points to anxiety of a certain well heeled pale minority.
For Elon Musk..a South African immigrant..to wring his hands and claiming that he is trying ‘to help with the underpopulation crisis’ while projections says that sub Saharan Africa is slated to single handedly prop up said impending extinction of our species is so offensive that even the ‘misunderstood genius with no social IQ’ trope doesn’t quite cut it. I was depressed for a week and then shrugged it off. There are all kinds out there, but the danger for our futures is not under population and/or extinction of human species due to anemic breeding efforts.
