I believe that the linear relationship between GDP and energy consumption makes it impossible to achieve growth and fight climate change. That said, I'm working in the climate insurance start-up Descartes Underwriting, trying to compute risks for many natural perils: cyclones, wildfires, hail, droughts... We're not on the mitigation side, but on the adaptation side. The financial service we provide helps companies survive and recover after catastrophes : I feel like my work has a positive impact!
