I think even 240 is reasonable for original parts considering the technology in the screen.
- rasz 4y agoIts more expensive than fully working second hand phone.
- thebruce87m 4y agoWell it depends which second hand phone you go for. My last 3 phones have been second hand phones ( and I doubt I’ll ever buy new again ) so I know where you’re coming from but we’re talking about new original parts here.
- rasz 4y agoI mean exact brand and model. ~$240 is the lowest price for fully working S20. It was the same with Apple "repair program" where they offer to sell you screens at above the value of whole phone.
- thebruce87m 4y agoSurely the only thing that matters is the BOM cost of the new screen?
- rasz 4y agoBOM cost of brand new Apple MacBook screen is ~$40. Phone screens are also in this ballpark. But manufactures arent interested in selling you at cost, they arent even interested in selling at a healthy profit, they want to discourage repair and upsell to new devices.
- LegitShady 4y agoliterally from the screenshot in the article.
- thebruce87m 4y agoHuh, missed that. It’s for the ultra: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Android/Samsung-Galaxy-S21-Ultra-USA-Screen-and-Battery--Genuine/IF358-035?o=4 https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Android/Samsung-Galaxy-S21-Ultr...
