Serious question, is "self-inflicted" a euphemism for "suicide"?

  Yes "self-inflicted" is a medical/legal term which includes suicide. In some jurisdiction there is a difference if "the balance of mind was disturbed" or if the coroner believed it was an attempted suicide (cry for help) that 'went wrong'
