Court Rejects Google's Attempt to Dismiss Rumble's Antitrust Lawsuit
- jaclaz 4y agoFirst thing I have to confess about my total ignorance about the existence of Rumble till now. I am not a youtube user, the only thing I look for, from time to time, is some tutorial/videos on how to disassemble/repair this or that gadget/engine/mechanism/whatever, + the occasional view of some videos I find linked to on HN. Today's test: 1) I went to Rumble and found a video about disassembling a Sony Xperia Z 2) the one I found was titled "Sony Xperia Z repair, disassembly manual" 3) then I tried a google search (video) for "Sony Xperia Z repair, disassembly manual", ALL results were on youtube or dailymotion 4) then I tried a google search (video) for "Sony Xperia Z repair, disassembly manual" site:rumble.com, NO results 5) then I tried a duckduckgo search (video) for "Sony Xperia Z repair, disassembly manual", ALL results were on youtube or dailymotion 6) then I tried a duckduckgo search (video) for "Sony Xperia Z repair, disassembly manual" site:rumble.com, NO results The above tests results should mean something, though I don't know what exactly.
- salawat 4y agoSounds to me like there is no indexing of said site done by search engines, or if there is, it's getting black holed for one reason or another. You'd need information on how they configure their DMZ in terms of visibility to search crawlers, as well as logs that make evident whether they were crawled or not. If they were crawled, but dropped from the index, it's possibly a free speech thing. There is no law that says Google must index a site. If there's paper trail that unveils an intentional decision not to prop up a competitor by intentionally dropping them out of search results in favor of their own offering, then we'll probably see a dilemma created tensionwise in terms of 1st Amendment rights of Google vs. Sherman Anti-Trust Act. Only way to know for sure is eDiscovery. And I'm fairly certain any Jury that has to weigh Google's behavior is going to get pointed out to them the magnitude of spend Google has done to create the appearance of not being anti-competitive, and Google's defense is going to make it a case of the Government/their competitor trying to force something out of them, poor innocent of Google, subsidiary of Alphabet.
