No, Stadia isn’t shutting down by the end of summer
- Kukumber 4y agoThere is something weird going around Stadia, too much FUD being spread Few years ago I kept seeing articles on The Verge saying cloud gaming is bad, Stadia won't make it, etc Then Xbox cloud came and surprisingly the tone changed, they ignored Stadia and kept saying "Xbox cloud is the future", despite Stadia having better latency, and better video quality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-NoFmhqNu4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-NoFmhqNu4 Market manipulation seems to be a common thing in the US, i wouldn't be surprised if that would be the case here
- adriancr 4y agoprobably simpler explanation - google did not pay those publications for advertising so they're doing fud
- silisili 4y agoIf Google or Stadia would just, gasp, make some kind of official statement, this uncertainty would stop. Google is known for killing products off with little notice, so a ton of people are scared to even mess with it - and worse, believe obviously fake rumors like this because of how believable it seems for them. All it would take is a 'we have a roadmap and service guarantee for 5 years' or some such wording to make a lot of people feel better. Google's refusal to do so speaks volumes.
- pasttense01 4y agoWhile it's very likely true that Stadia won't be shut down by the end of the summer, the question as to if it will still be around in a couple years is still open--considering Google's habit of killing products and the relatively poor success of Stadia so far.
