It reminds me of the "spot the errors" assignments my teacher in high school computer class would give us ;-) As for the department store computer displays, I do remember K-Mart would have the Atari 2600's running in some kind of demo mode so it would reboot whatever game it was playing after about 5 minutes. I learned I could just barely win "Superman" before the reboot, if I started it right away.
