Show HN: Outserv – GraphQL Search Engine
- wizwit999 4y agoBtw watch out for the license - this isn't open source.
- derekdahmer 4y agoMaybe I’m missing it but where is the main site where I can try out queries?
- deathtrader666 4y agohttps://github.com/outcaste-io/outserv https://github.com/outcaste-io/outserv
- derekdahmer 4y agoThat’s the GitHub which also doesn’t seem to link to a site where this is already running. Is the intention that you need to clone, run and ingest 750gb data just to try this out?
- mrjn 4y ago(author here) > Is the intention that you need to clone, run and ingest 750gb data just to try this out? Now that you put it that way, it definitely doesn't seem easy. I'm planning to run it in the cloud and expose an endpoint, so people can try it out.
- mxstbr 4y ago@Manish: is this your continuation of the Dgraph technology? Context: Manish was the founder of Dgraph but recently left the company behind it. The company got new leadership and recently announced new funding: https://dgraph.io/blog/post/funding-20220720/ https://dgraph.io/blog/post/funding-20220720/
- mrjn 4y agoThis is a significantly altered fork of Dgraph. Outserv is purely focused on providing an amazing GraphQL + Custom Business Logic experience. It doesn't provide DQL mutations, and the DQL queries are marked deprecated and would go away soon. Outserv chases simplicity -- No more transactions, so no need for custom clients -- all interactions are done via the HTTP port (no public gRPC), etc. There are also changes in deployment model of Outserv -- it's a lot simpler to deploy than Dgraph is. https://github.com/outcaste-io/outserv/compare/v21.12.0..v22.07.0 https://github.com/outcaste-io/outserv/compare/v21.12.0..v22...
- lohfu 4y agoi really think the blockchain part should be part of the title on HN, it's kind of the USP
- janstice 4y ago+1, it’s a blockchain search engine with a GraphQL interface.
- kordlessagain 4y agoWhat problem is this solving?
- mrjn 4y agoBuilding GraphQL APIs over so many different types of web3 data (transactions, blocks, smart contracts, NFTs, different chains, what not).
