You can't live in a parking spot. When the city voted in a government that doesn't protect it, it's every man for himself.

- xdennis 4y agoWhy not? The problem is that many make a mess. Punish that. But there's nothing wrong with living in a public spot.
- unethical_ban 4y agoI would wish for a city ordinance that granted business districts and property owners first rights to public parking use in their immediate vicinity. If someone started living in an RV directly in front of my house, I would be displeased.
- colinmhayes 4y agoWhy can't you live in a parking spot? The people voted in this government, seems like this is what they want.

- dang 4y agoWould you please stop posting flamewar comments to HN? This is not ok. The comments you've been replying to are also bad, but what you've posted (in more than one case) is a noticeable step downward into flamewar. That's not cool. If you'd please review https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html and stick to the rules when posting here, we'd appreciate it.
- lukas099 4y agoYou can't store your concrete block in a parking spot either.
- Geonode 4y agoIn Seattle you can because the government has forced the police into survival mode. They naturally give a lot more leeway to people who invest in society than people squatting on public property without sewage access.
- chrsig 4y agoCan you expand on what you mean by "forced the police into survival mode?" SPD is pretty ripe with all sorts of issues (e.g., they thought it was a good idea to teargas capital hill for days on end). They've kind of created a hostile relationship with their community.
