I've walked a fair bit in both cities, and that just doesn't match my experience at all.
Additionally, when people talk about how walkabout NYC is, I suspect they only really mean a relatively small part of the metro area.
- nerdponx 4y agoYes, they are definitely only talking about New York City itself and not the surrounding metro area. People mostly refer to the surrounding areas by other names, e.g. county names like Nassau County. And even within the city, there are less-walkable areas, although for the most part there is bus coverage and sidewalks everywhere.
