* Aug/2009 - VPC announced
* Dec/2013 - EC2 Classic blocked for new customers
* Jul/2021 - EC2 Classic officially deprecated
* Aug/2022 - EC2 Classic retired
- daenz 4y agoIt's probably going to break something when they clean up the legacy stuff too. When you keep around something for that long while building something new, the roots tend to grow into each other.

- zerocrates 4y agoWould love to see the numbers which they surely had showing how many instances were still running on Classic over the years. The superior pricing of new instance types that needed to be on VPC was probably as big a factor as anything in pushing people off, but there must have been lots of servers just clicking away with no one really paying attention to the billing.
