I have a similar story. I would think that it's tied with poverty in many cases (such as mine), and you know what they say, misery loves company. My pet peeve is being told that I have survivorship bias whenever I try to encourage others to use it as a fuel for good. So now I just shut up and try to ensure that my little ones have their tools to succeed. I'm no longer interested in helping anyone else. I'm actually to a stage where I'm telling to round out my ambition, trying to figure out how to relax, but I really struggle with not needing to do something.
