Terrible headline - Biden can be criticised for many things but surely not on the sanctions policy.
He has already done an amazing job persuading European nations to get on board with the hugely damaging (to Europe, as well to Russia) sanctions - and unless there is an alternative supply of oil and gas (Iran already sanctioned, Venezuela already sanctioned) there is nothing much that can be done. Unless the answer is simply to switch off European manufacturing? Which would be result in political upheaval all over Europe, and the likely rise of Putin-like nationalists who would be more accommodationist to Russia. Biden is doing all he can
- dieselgate 4y agoGood callout, had to reread and check if this was an Opinion piece presented by thehill (it is) rather than regular reporting.

Even both Obama, and Trump were aware and warned Germany of their dependence on Russian oil, especially one of them gave a speech in 2018 about that and Germany was laughing. I don't think they are laughing today, but Biden did not see that did he, even as Vice President? As President, he did nothing to stop the invasion from happening in the first place. > Biden is doing all he can This is not early days anymore. We are almost half way though the first term. Whatever damage he has done, it is irreversible. Especially the botched Afghanistan withdrawal last year. If that happened under Trump, there would be zero forgiveness on that slip up. Now causing one leader (Putin) to invade another country is another problem caused by a display of weakness of leadership and policies to even stop them. So 'is doing all he can' isn't good enough for a supposed powerful nation having the dollar as the world's reserve currency which it turns out is in a recession, no matter the definition(s).
- Bubble_Pop_22 4y agoTrump biggest drama is that his economic policies were sure winners, he should have trusted them to propel him to re-election instead of whatever he did with constant displays of his flawed character. He is such a baby, doesn't understand that once you win the election and become POTUS attacks from media and opposite party don't matter anymore. The only things that matters is that you are POTUS and they aren't. End of the story, it's the only thing that matters. QB vs armchair QB, Heavyweight champion vs emerging shit talker who is at least 10 wins away from getting a shot at the belt. The entire apparatus of the world's most powerful and richest country is geared toward making sure POTUS is the very last man on Earth if it comes down to that. Baby couldn't find happiness in all of that and had to silence and shame critics, his character cost him the 2nd term. He lost it because he had to shame armchair QBs and irrelevant fighters.
