Adrenaline-seeking firefighter started French wildfires, say prosecutors
- themodelplumber 4y ago> Asked about his motive, he declared that he had done this in order to provoke an intervention by the fire brigade to save him from an oppressive family environment and because of the excitement these interventions caused him Perhaps he needs a home-adrenaline or home-dopamine kit, and I'm only half-kidding. It's amazing how common wildfire arson is, especially from a lay person's POV once you start to look into it. From the way people describe their subjective ignition-triggers, it really sounds like they are unable to find safe ways to process a physiological reaction to a need that their direct environment can't otherwise provide. If that's even close to the case, it ought to be way more preventable via objective means and some creativity. (I thought I knew something about how weird this stuff could be, until summer 2020 when someone hopped on his bike and rode around my city in rural Northern California, starting a total of 9 wildfires at various locations...all within an hour's time...)
