Interestingly, I’ve seen a map of the UK where Southern Ireland had been completely deleted making the actual geography look different to reality. My thought at the time was that would be more confusing for my kids as they learn about countries, especially as my mum is Irish. I agree with everything you say, it needs a better visualisation.
