Some good points, my understanding of the history is “The UC” has always been Cal, Davis is the “agriculture branch”, LA is the “southern branch”, UCSF is the “medical branch” but things have changed and new campuses have been established.
Not sure how Boalt mixes in with all that (when looking up the spelling just found out Cal Law doesn’t use that name anymore either!)

Accessing… John Henry Boalt was instrumental in legitimizing anti-Chinese racism and in catalyzing support for passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 — the nation’s first immigration ban on a specific group of people solely on the basis of race or nationality.
