Damn, I hate to say it but this strikes me as almost l-u-c-k-y considering her total capital outlay.
I happen to "know someone" who finally bit the bullet and took an $80K loss in one asset alone just a couple months ago, an asset which had otherwise been providing helpful income during a difficult time in life for almost a year.
They had built this position up on the back of 600% profits on this asset prior to the loss spiral though, which made the situation a tiny bit easier to swallow.
I also have a neighbor who took a $700K loss, and he just laughs about it. I LOST SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND...I can still hear his voice echoing across the street.
I noticed it's kind of funny how many mental models we have to deal with this stuff, many of which are even contradictory: Easy come easy go; don't FOMO; BTD; don't try to catch a falling knife; if you don't sell it, it's not a loss; diamond hands...the range and depth seems like it ought to be amenable to some kind of algorithmic representation. Type in your current position & parameters, and out comes a ranking of likely-helpful mental models...
