Open Source CLI music player with Vim bindings
- themodelplumber 4y agoThanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to try this but my muscle memory always goes directly to mocp/sudo apt install moc.
- freeqaz 4y agoI haven't used either of those so I'll have to give them a shot to compare. I use cmus for my local music files (that I sync via Dropbox), and I use Spotify for everything else. I've been wanting to try out one of the CLI-based Spotify apps, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Do you do most of your music listening locally?
- themodelplumber 4y agoI do a lot of listening on the local side for sure. Typically either with qmms or moc. Dropbox syncs most of it, with some other syncing handled via LAN rsync. Spotify might be interesting. I tend to go to Amazon Music since I'm used to it and have always got this weird underdog thing going. SomaFM in the browser is nice at times, and could be done through console for sure. IA also has some fun stuff there for esoteric interests. I also listen to a lot of local FM and sometimes remote FM via websdr. I think it could be interesting to play with console interfaces for these. Local FM is surprisingly nice because there are normally scheduled announcements on the air that apply directly to where I live, for one. Anyway... Fun topic
