I've been wondering if this is a world-wide shift in consciousness due to interconnectedness. Things are better than they ever have been by multiple statistical observations, but appear to be worse than ever by the consensus of group think. Of course there are metrics that suck, like global temperature increase. That's why I wonder about a "default mode global consciousness" having something to do with it.
