For 12 Hours, Was Part of Apple’s Network Hijacked by Russia’s Rostelecom?
- tuukkah 4y agoFrom my reading, the answer seems to be yes, but Apple launched mitigations already after 5 hours.
- kgeist 4y ago>We also have not seen any information from Rostelecom about whether this was a configuration mistake or a deliberate action My ISP is Rostelecom and here they have the reputation of being a pretty crappy provider (probably because it's a monopoly in a lot of places), so a mistake is a possible reason, it's something Rostelecom could do.
- danyork 4y agoGood to know. Thanks for providing this viewpoint as a customer.
- jesuspiece 4y agoLooks like it? BGP stuff is hard to prove out
- romwell 4y agoIt was, and let's keep pretending like the Russian invasion of Ukraine has nothing to do with that (or other tech news about Russia).
- danyork 4y agoThe Register had an article building off this post with some more conjecture: https://www.theregister.com/2022/07/27/apple_networking_traffic_russia_bgp/ https://www.theregister.com/2022/07/27/apple_networking_traf...
