- WJW 4y agoFamously used by SpaceX to weld (some parts of) their rockets together without having heat affecting the strength of the material.
- elil17 4y agoNot really a "SpaceX" thing - it's been used on the Space Shuttle and many spacecraft since then. Also boats, cars, planes, etc. Heck, iMacs have used it since 2012.
- WJW 4y agoYou are entirely right of course, I didn't mean that it was a SpaceX-exclusive process or anything. It's just where I heard about it first and I would bet it is the most high-profile application currently in use. :)
