I am disappointed that the notions that fish and many other animals are unintelligent, incapable of emotion, reasoning, etc. are as prevalent as they are. I suspect these beliefs salve a lack of interest in ethical animal treatment, which would also be sad if true, because something shouldn't have to be capable of using tools or feeling sadness for us to want to treat it respectfully.
