Ask HN: What are folks using to track what shows/movies they’ve watched?

Notes app (backed up in cloud) I watch shows from 10 different sites, so I note it down which show/movie I watched and till which episode.

I just remember (using my human memory). And if I forget I saw something before, then I maybe watch it again.

  Same here, but I also backup to the cloud (my partner) and they remind me if I have watched it.

  You joke but I feel like the whole PKM thing has grown a lot because of people like me, with poor memory for some kinds of facts (not movies though).

  also lets you add friends (not required), write reviews, and rate movies/shows! pretty cool app

I made a private web app — a glorified list really — that allows you to type in a movie to add to a watchlist, and then later you can mark an item as watched. It just keeps track of the movies in your list, counts of watched and unwatched movies, the day you added a movie, marked a movie as watched etc. Nothing sophisticated or smart. No pictures. Just a dumb boring list. Something I coded up on a boring Sunday. Only me and a handful of friends use it. Although it's out there on the internet (hosted on a cheap DigitalOcean droplet) and is open-source, I'm deliberately not sharing it here because it's not quite ready yet for the potential hug of hacker news: - there's no email validation - there's no captcha or anything - I'm too lazy to fix the above problems

I have recently started using https://www.tvtime.com/ https://www.tvtime.com/ app and it works great for tracking the movies watched and upcoming movies/series.

https://myanimelist.net/ https://myanimelist.net/ It's become a social media site for weebs. I'm disappointed that imdb or goodreads hasn't matched MAL's level.

I don't really keep track of it. The only tool I am using is the IMDB top 250 where I can click/rate movies. It's not really because I like to keep track of everything, but I found out that the 250 list is actually solid, I watched some movies as far 1920s and enjoyed it. So I am going through them all, broadening my tastes.

Plex. won't go to theaters anymore so everything i watch is on plex
