- q-big 4y agoIn my observation, the graduates who go to finance and big business are a different breed of people than those who would love to stay in science. I don't think the typical person who deeply loves science becomes happy in finance of big business. On the other hand, the people who go to the latter don't have the deep love for research that is necessary to bear an academic career. Also, in my experience (I know some examples), the typical hiring processes of finance and big business weed out the bright people who have too much of a love for science. So, I don't think what you mentioned is a problem.
