Use Baking Soda Like a Scientist
- chomp 4y agoBaking soda can be used as a microabrasive to clean stainless steel as well. If you mix in a little dish soap for lubrication, it scrubs out burnt-on stuff really really well. Way better than most stove-top cleaners, and it doesn't (seem to) swirl the stainless steel.
- Eddy_Viscosity2 4y agoI did not know this: "A tiny pinch of baking soda to vegetables or meats while roasting or sautéing accelerates the rate of sugar caramelization, and supercharges the Maillard reaction, the rate at which the amino acids in proteins react with sugar. The result is delicious bittersweet flavors, attractive golden-brown colors, and nutty aromas."
