Remote, Hybrid, or In-Person?

- tharkun__ 4y agoMeh. It was almost an hour each way, so I spent almost two hours a day, five days a week, commuting. This can be a productive time, particularly if you are commuting on mass transit Depends on your job and transit. Does your job require an hour of answering slack messages from memory/your reasoning with minimal if any need to look at stuff? Sure this could work even if your transit includes standing squished together with lots of other people in a subway car. But even that isn't great. So for some people this "isn't that bad" but even that is very specific to situation. You are not going to code in that situation. We could and probably should add an after-work happy hour and/or sports teams/leagues to make those days even more attractive to the team. The basic idea is to make coming to the office an attractive option a few days a week. So you want to add even more things that might make people feel obligated to come into the office? Why? If you want to force people into the office just say it outright so we can avoid your company. Don't use social pressure to bully us into it. He said that he wanted his teams to come together for a week at the start of a project and again for a week at the end of a project That I think can make a lot of sense! Best of both worlds. Very clear boundaries. I can do that for a week once every few years (or maybe once a year). Maybe throw in being in a nice place instead of the office. With the money you saved from having to have an office.
