Is there a law that kids a certain age can't be alone in public?

This foster parent, who may have had first-hand experience of what can happen to unsupervised children, caused an issue where none had previously existed. Regarding the other aspect to your comment, in all US states there is a division or department for the welfare of children. They can immediately take a child away from parents, who they believe to be abusive. When the person makes the right decision, they and this system are hailed are wonderful. Unfortunately, things like this often happen far too often - administrators turn the life of a family upside down, due to their own beliefs, biases, and power over others.
