Ask HN: Why high-tech? Why startup? How to find my calling?

Scope of the query: Planning my next chapter in my Life. How and why did you pick high tech? How and why did you pick high tech? In your opinion, what's the best methodology / process for someone to find their calling in Life? I am not talking about happiness, that's overinflated. I am not talking necessarily about passion, although that's part of it. I am a bit older, MBA educated, with a long and somewhat successful career in operations for high-tech companies; technical enough but not a SWE, financially stable with a good job, I have had 1 successful startup when I was young, and numerous failed attempts.
