I lived out of Airbnb's for years as a "nomad" and I'm also in the never again camp. I literally developed an anxiety order that I'm in treatment for from from all the times I ended up "homeless" temporarily because some host screwed me over in some way or another and I needed to scramble to find housing in a foreign country. Airbnb is simply extremely ok with leaving you stranded, alone, and homeless regardless of where you are in the world or what your other options are.
