I do wonder about that question. Once people see the images, you have to ask them what percent of the federal budget they’d be willing to put up for it. I bet it would be an order or magnitude more than it actually cost. $10 billion in my mind isn’t much at all for a civilization-scale science project. If you ask me, I’d put up $250 billion a year, putting it at about 6% of the federal budget. (I’m just thinking aloud here.)
