  More like Youtube how it was in the beginning. What I'm saying is that monetization changes the way videos are made. They generally tend to be padded out, with intros, attempts at social engagement, ("Please like and subscribe, and let me know how you feel in the comments!"). This style is actively encouraged by YouTube.

    Afaik Vimeo tried to stick to that model and didn't do so well

    Monetization alone isn't the problem, it's the specific algorithm that YouTube uses. Length, comments, etc. are rewarded.
