Are you experiencing a lack of knowledge in an entire field, or are there gaps? If there are gaps, maybe you could self-study those away. Self study is a good idea even if you weren't having this problem.
You may simply have applied for a role that wasn't suitable for you. It's seems that the role you currently play doesn't require a CS Bachelor.
- zkuz 4y agoThe job description was a good fit, so I feel like the role itself wasn't the problem. It's possible that particular company just needs to adjust its interviews for that type of role. I suppose I could go back to fill in gaps with specific books/online courses, but to be honest, I'm kind of bad about self-paced education like that. Having deadlines and structure around it would help me I think.
- LouisSayers 4y agoMaybe find someone you can pay as a coach to keep you accountable, or a dev that knows this stuff that can give you a lesson once a week. There's different ways to solve accountability.
- bckr 4y ago+1 for coaching / private lessons. I'm actually tutoring a friend and it's great to see him learning rapidly. Also there was an article recently about how CS masters degrees probably aren't a good idea to get, with the kicker that half of software engineers are self taught anyway.
