How Can Infinitely Many Primes Be Infinitely Far Apart?
- jjgreen 4y ago"There are arbitrarily long prime gaps" and "consecutive primes can also be infinitely far apart" are inequivalent statements: the first is true, the second is gibberish.
- ksaj 4y agoTwo primes cannot be infinitely far apart. Two of anything cannot be infinitely far apart, because the moment you put something at the end of a set (in this case, two primes with a whole lot of composites in between) you've made a finite set. "Infinity" should not be misinterpreted as "yet to be calculated."
