The constant $$ cost of the Bloomberg has been in decline for years, as the number of people who subscribe = aging away. In the pre-internet heyday they were marvels, and initially included a T1 data line, later ADSL and now fiber or cable - varies.
They took weeks to become adept at their RGB over/under display - they had 2 keyboards, one a qwerty the other a grid with text marked and colored keys, and some training you attended.I had a set from 1995-2002.$2200/month plus the T1
They were good, for the day, but nothing compared to what Bloomberg now provides via 2 side by side large screen colored monitors.
Bloomberg has staff that race ahead, gather/display etc.
A web adept person can come close to a Bloomberg. But Bloomberg has all the subscriptions/markets etc mass subscribed, but a lone person will find it hard to beat as he will pay 2-3 times as much for each feed. Banks/Brokers can do better, but then Bloomberg charges them less per desk, so Bloomberg still does well.
It is hard to beat a smart company that works hard...
