Remote works really well if pre-pandemic your team was global.
- andrei_says_ 4y agoSimilar experience here. The change is not in how we work (remote meetings, written communication across multiple timezones including EU and Asia) but in where we sit when we work (home office and not an office building office). Everyone is happy to be working from home and energized by the absence of 3-4h of unnecessary daily commutes. Our productivity has at close to doubled. In-person meetings for the whole team (on 3 continents) have never ever happened and never will. Local departments do meet from time to time for lunch or happy hour. When optional (not mandated), these are pleasant and fun. If someone would ask us to go back to work from a specific location, it will be the equivalent of mandating 4 hours of driving in a circle every single day - nonsensical, useless, wasteful, unnecessary, and, possibly sadistic.
