So when I attempt to install the Amazon play store on my iPhone, will I get the following scary message?
"WARNING: You are about to install non-approved software which may be malicious or a virus. If this software causes damage to your iPhone we will not fix your device, even if it is still under warranty. Are you really sure you want to continue?"
- 32163704 4y agoI presume so. Does the EU ruling require companies to offer warranties for damage caused by users installing malicious software?
- Gareth321 4y agoMy reading of the legislation is that this kind of message is only permissible if the Gatekeeper also includes that message when installing the native equivalent. The legislation requires that on initial setup of the device, the user be given a choice of services like browsers, and the Gatekeeper cannot unfairly prejudice competitors by, for example, including such a warning for only the competitors.
