Now imagine if all the energy consumed by BTC mining was available for the rest of the market! The share of sustainable sources would be much higher, and the price cheaper.
- eimrine 4y agoAfter that imagine an Earth without any humans. Birds are singing, wild nature is living, fresh air on your backyard, no plastic, peace everywhere.
- anshorei 4y agoAnt colonies would like to disagree. As would chimpanzees. Peace is harder to achieve than you imagine.
- EUROCARE 4y agoThat was never going to happen. Just selling the electricity on the regulated market doesn't pay nearly enough. You can be happy that BTC increased demand and thus sped up progress and commodization of renewables - without it other renewable projects might have been much more expensive and with less output.
- bitxbitxbitcoin 4y agoSome portion of that Bitcoin mining that is happening with sustainable sources is happening in locations where transporting that electricity off site would… reduce sustainability.
- verdverm 4y agoor could have been developed in a location where the electricity would be put to better use
