Everyone is comparing about Disney, and I find that $1000 figure low - I honestly think you can find better value, or could, when you could travel to Japan or Hong Kong and do Disney there. Growing up around Disney World, and heading back there nowadays, it is a shame, and it's not the park or the employees but the people and the absolute density. It is a fully mature commercialized money extraction machine, not that the ones in Japan or HK aren't - but I've managed to snag tickets round trip to HK and JP that were $600'ish, hotel accommodation is average at $50 a night for 5 star in both places but not in actual disney accomodations, there's public transit/rail so easy to get around and food costs were a fraction, we're talking $15 a day, with entry tickets at $40-60. Of course Tokyo Disney Sea. Tokyo Disney Land and Hong Kong Disneyland aren't for everyone, but I wouldn't go near the one in Orlando ever again - that was a treat growing up and each subsequent time was an experience that was hell, not to mention International Drive in Orlando, needing a car and the whole sake of it. It's really ironic - Orlando is built around cars, while JP/HK you need nothing but to show up on your two feet. And the people are 100% better mannered too.
